About Jennifer

Medical herbalist, nutritional therapist and one of the UK's few certified FSM Practitioners & Instructors. Over 20 years in clinical practice in London and Ireland.

I help people with chronic infections, persistent fatigue, hormonal imbalances and the kind of complex, unresolved symptoms that conventional medicine often struggles to make sense of. My conviction is simple: nature, used skilfully and with rigour, has answers modern medicine often overlooks — and the body, given the right support, has a remarkable capacity to heal.

My route into this work

My way into this work was through plants — their chemistry, their botany, and their long-standing relationship with the human body. That fascination led me first into hands-on therapies (holistic massage and reflexology), then into a four-year BSc (Hons) in Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster, including over 500 hours of supervised clinical training.

After qualifying I returned to Ireland to practise, where I added a three-year Diploma in Nutritional Therapy at the IINH — recognising what my patients had taught me: that herbal and nutritional medicine are two halves of the same conversation with the body.

I later completed a Master's in Ethnobotany at the University of Kent in conjunction with the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. My research took me to Ladakh in northern India, studying how shifts in traditional diet were affecting gastrointestinal health among Ladakhi communities. It deepened my respect for plant medicine and for the cultures that have practised it for millennia.

Over twenty years in clinical practice

From 2005 to 2009 I practised in Ireland, working alongside psychiatrists, doctors and psychologists with patients facing complex mental health and chronic illness.

From 2010 to today I practise from an NHS GP surgery in Fulham, London, with patients where conventional medicine has run out of answers — chronic Lyme, post-viral fatigue, mould illness, recurrent infections, perimenopause, autoimmune and unresolved gut symptoms.

I'm a Certified FSM Practitioner and Instructor, trained directly with Dr Carolyn McMakin — one of the very few certified at this level in the UK.

How I work

I don't believe in protocols. Two patients with the same diagnosis rarely need the same plan, and the body doesn't read textbooks. My work is to listen carefully, look thoroughly, test where it changes the outcome, and build a treatment plan that fits your biology — not someone else's.

I'm cautious about the supplement industry, sceptical of fashionable diets, and rigorous about evidence. Where the science supports a traditional remedy, I prescribe it. Where it doesn't, I won't. Food first; supplements where they earn their place; herbs and FSM where they offer something nothing else can.

Outside the clinic

Outside the clinic you'll find me at my allotment, browsing farmers' markets, cooking with whatever's in season, or out on the water rowing or swimming. The same principles that shape my practice — local, seasonal, real food, time spent in nature — shape my own life.
